Full Circle Campaign Raises £2,000 for Victims of Domestic Violence
We are thrilled that an appeal launched by our team in Halifax has raised £2,000 for Calderdale WomenCentre.
We decided to approach local businesses and our contacts back in January after hearing that the charity needed practical items to see victims of domestic violence through their first few days away from home.
It started with a goal to provide 20 backpacks filled with supplies at a cost of £20 each. Within weeks we’d reached our £400 target and the donations kept coming.
In the end it took just over a month to raise £2,000 which will provide 100 backpacks and make a huge difference to women and families arriving with nothing other than the clothes they stand in.
We have been completely overwhelmed by the response and would like to say a huge thank you to all the individuals, celebrants, therapists, counsellors and local businesses who have supported us. It is an incredible achievement by all those who contributed.
The pressure on services like Calderdale WomenCentre has never been greater and a few basic necessities in those first few hours and days away from home make all the difference.
Donations came from individuals, celebrants and local businesses including Yorkshire Payments, LCF Law, Chadwick Lawrence, The Private Office, Wild & Co Chartered Accountants, Propelify Ltd, Jigsaw Print, Pabasso, Dead Good Wills, Guardian Angel, Mindful Memorials, Alpaca Professional Services, Suzanne Gamache Healing, Counsellor Eve Elliott-Pearson, acupuncturist Jane Wood and Andy Ellis of Sheavyn Associates.
The backpacks have been delivered and will be handed to women and families arriving at the centre this year.
