Emi Taylor Tribute image

A Celebration of Emi’s Life

Update for Saturday:

Parking will be available at the village hall or at the school as well as anywhere in the village.

Please leave right outside out house clear for Emi if possible.

If you need directions, please text/WhatsApp Helen on 07817484469

We would like to invite everyone to join us at Apple Tree Cottage on Saturday 9th July 2022 from 2pm for an afternoon in Emi’s garden to celebrate her life.

There will be no formal service. Emi will be resting in her shed if you would like to visit to say goodbye. There will be time to relax and remember Emi with her family and friends.

Please do bring children, partners and/or others to support you if you wish. You are welcome to arrive at any time after 2pm. At 4pm Emi will be collected for her final journey and there will be chance to say our final goodbyes. If you would prefer not to be present for this part we do understand.

You are welcome to stay for as long or as little time as you wish. Pop in for 5 minutes, or stay all afternoon.

Parking may be busy near our home so please be prepared to walk through the village, or you may wish to share lifts.

There will be afternoon tea and although we are all desperately sad, we would like this to be a relaxed and, if it can be, happy occasion.

Please click here to let us know if you can be there. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in, no need for anything formal.

There is no need to bring anything at all but if you would like to make a donation to Martin House please click here. You are welcome to bring something small to plant or seeds to scatter if you wish. I will do my best to look after them for Emi!

We would love to see and hear your photos and memories of Emi so please forward them to me (WhatsApp or text) if you are able.  Alternatively, if you would like to post a message on this page, please email [email protected]

____________________________________________________________________________________

To help you to prepare for the day:

I will be going to collect Emi from Harrogate, where she is resting, in the morning on Saturday 9th. Emi will then rest in her beautiful shed until the afternoon.

If you would like to help with any of this part of the day, do please let me know.

Emi’s coffin is a very beautiful, gentle, ‘curve’, painted cream and will be decorated in the next few days. If anyone would like to be involved in this please let me know.

When we bring Emi home, her coffin will remain closed.

Emi’s shed is right at the bottom of our garden so if you prefer you can stay nearer the house. If you don’t feel able to visit while Emi is there, there will be time after Emi has left us from about 4.30pm. There will be lots of memories of Emi for us all to share.

When Emi makes her final journey at 4pm we will carry Emi’s coffin up the garden and out to the car that will be waiting for her. If you would like to be part of this then please let me know or if you decide you would like to on the day then this will be fine too. It would be lovely if everyone who wants and feels able to, could form two lines for Emi to travel between. If you would like to wave Emi off then that would be fine too.

Children – those of you with children may be wondering about bringing them and whether it is appropriate. It is if you would like. Emi loved being in the middle of lots of fun and laughter and I do not mind one bit if they want to come, and if they play and make a lot of noise.

Food – we will have afternoon tea and drinks. We hope the weather will be nice but if it isn’t we may change some arrangements.

Please check back here before Sat 9th in case there are any additional or changed arrangements.

Emi has a special place in the hearts of many people, even those who only met her a few times. Everyone is welcome to wish her goodbye. If you know anyone who you think would like to be included, please forward this link and please let me know.

We will see many of you on Saturday 9th from 2pm

Helen

I feel very privileged to have been part of Emi’s journey and she has left beautiful memories of the time I went in to work with her.  Her infectious giggle brought a big smile and warmth to us all.  Her determination of wanting to be part of what she did was so important and she clearly communicated in her own subtle way ‘ do it with me and not for me’.  This was important to Emi !!
When I see Babybels in the supermarket I always smile as it reminded me of it being her favourite snack and wow she did like them!!
Than you Emi for all that you taught me and you will always have a special place in my heart ❤️
Always remembered with loving thoughts,🙏
Veena

Hearing Emi laughing and having fun was a joy. To have shared with her those moments of happiness is a very precious memory.
Her sweet nature and innocence will endure forever.

With love,
Julie

Brian McBurney Tribute image

Brian McBurney

Much loved husband to Jill, Father to Caz and Nicky and Grandad to Ben, Seb, Sam and Izzy.

A celebration of Brian’s life will be held on Friday 20th May, 1.30pm at St John’s Church Brooklands, Brooklands Road, Sale, M33 3PB.

Please indicate your intention to attend by clicking here

The family invite you to join them following the Church service for the wake at Brooklands Sports Club, Whitehall Road, Sale, M33 3NL.

No flowers please, but donations to New Start Charity: Donate to New Start | crm.newstartcharity.org.  The link should take you straight to the donations page – please enter Brian’s full name into the “Reason for Donation” box and the charity will ensure that all donations are sent to the Jim Quick ward which took such great care of Brian and all of the family.

The family have chosen this charity as, by some magical stroke of luck, Brian was admitted onto the Jim Quick Ward in Wythenshawe Hospital which is actually a heart and lung transplant unit. Brian and Jill knew Jim and Elaine Quick and Brian was there for two weeks before he passed.  To say that he thought he was in a private hospital goes a little way to describing the amazing care and love he was shown by every single member of staff there.  Not only did they look after Brian with such incredible care but also Jill, Caz and Nicky when at their most stressful, emotional and saddest of times and the family can’t thank them enough. The family hopes that donations can help other families in the transplant unit and keep it a special place to spend time.

If you would prefer to make a cash or cheque donation these will be collected at the back of St John’s Church.  Please make any cheques out to: “Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund” (the official charity name).

Any queries, please contact Sara Fixter on [email protected] or 0161 928 6080.
