Funeral care

Many people have told us that they think they would like to work as funeral directors but have not been able to find out more about what that involves.

We believe that it is important to be transparent about what it is like to work in funeral care so that we can encourage capable and motivated people into the profession.

Work experience

To help people understand more about funeral care so that they can decide whether it is the right career for them we offer some people the opportunity to come and spend time with us.

Similarly, some people have approached us because they work in an allied profession (such as being a celebrant, nurse, or bereavement support worker) and would like to understand more about funerals and funeral care so that they can provide better, more holistic care for the people they support.

If you are interested in finding out more about being a funeral director or gaining some work experience, then please get in touch and we will discuss the next steps with you. This is likely to involve a face-to-face meeting so we can understand how we can help. We may also ask you to complete a short application form and provide a reference.

“The key part for me what that there was never anything that wasn’t interesting and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had.”

Holly, School Work Experience

“Very helpful. I feel in a much better position to be able to field questions from patients and families.”

Training

We host monthly webinars on a variety of subjects related to funerals and bereavement.  These events are free, friendly and everyone is welcome.  You can see what is planned on our webinars page and please do get in touch if there were any subjects that you would like us to consider, or if you would like to be a guest speaker.

Upon invitation, we deliver free training about funeral choices and funeral care and have done so to a wide range of audiences (including the WI, church groups, doula’s, medics, palliative care professionals and care home staff).

We also facilitate funeral wishes workshops which support people to understand and articulate their funeral wishes. This one-hour workshop provides a decision-making framework and a safe and informal space for people to start completing a simple document and ensure that their wishes are known.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like more information about the training that we offer or would like us to deliver something which is more bespoke to your needs.

“Your talk was fascinating. The legal and practical aspects and the psychological approach that you take was all very thought provoking. I’ve already had some useful conversations on the basis of it and am anticipating a few more!”

Julie, GP

“I found the talk really helpful. I have worked out what I want and spoken to my family and friends. It feel relieved that is has been dealt with and am now getting on with having fun.”

Full Circle Funerals Partners

While working as funeral directors, we were approached by many people who wanted to be funeral directors themselves but didn’t feel confident to start their own business.  They told us they felt the way that Full Circle Funerals supported people was aligned with their personal values and vision of good funeral care.

We felt that many of these people would be excellent funeral directors, and were bringing all the right skills, motivation, and experience to the role.  So, we decided to create a framework to give them the support they were asking for and launched the Full Circle Funerals Partners franchise network in January 2020, with support from franchising experts at Lime Licencing Group.

Every Full Circle Funerals Partner is a small, local, and independent business and they receive support from an experienced team of funeral directors and managers at Full Circle Funerals.  We believe this creates a helpful balance of a funeral business remaining independent and local, while also receiving support from a wider, motivated, and engaged team of colleagues.

If you would like to know more about becoming a partner please take a look at the partners area in the “About Us” section of this website
